Firenock SwingBlade Series
SSwingBlade is a mechanical broadhead that utilizes a deployment system that has never been seen before. As its name implies, the three blades on a SwingBlade deploy by swinging out from their clasped position upon impact. This design allows it to be used on high-speed archery projectiles (550 fps) with accuracy due to a minimum crosswind signature during the flight (3/4" for Falcon & Raptor blades.) Further, designed as a completely interchangeable series, the head, blades, and bodies can be field swapped.
The SwingBlade standard head is made of stainless steel. It has a sharp-edge pyramid design. The three channels of the head are designed to allow the screws that unite the head with the body to be flush with the base of the head for structural integrity. These channels also lower the surface contact, acting as air ram chambers and blood flow channels during its cutting phase.
SwingBlades utilize the single bevel front and back design. The blades are 0.5 mm thick surgical-grade stainless steel hardened to at least 52 HRC.
Like all Firenock broadheads and field points, all three bodies are equipped with FACT 2.0, our Double-ring system that helps self-concentricity. The Falcon blade provided a better angle of cutting while the Raptor blade will comply with the laws of the state that have no barbing rules as it has an 89-degree back cut. The latest Talon blade is designed for those who are not shooting over 315fps and prefer a larger cutting diameter than SwingBlade Falcon and Raptor can provide (Talon is just over 1 2/3" cut while it is 3/16" cut on Falcon and Raptor).
For the fall of 2019, Firenock offers the Saber blade set to satisfy the need for the lower poundage and large cutting diameter of the heavy FOC thin-diameter arrow. Just like all Swingbalde sets, it is interchangeable, and this blade is designed to fly true with Aerovane III at up to 300 fps. It, however, has the largest closed and open blade diameters. Saber's 17-degree blade angle maximizes penetration with the least force and energy lost. When fully open, it is 1 13/16"/ 46mm.
Deployment Method
SwingBlade's blades will only deploy when there has been a change in density—the only thing keeping the blades from swinging open is one rubber O-ring! After contact with something of a different density than air, such as flesh, the blades will open via their hinges, which are directly perpendicular to the impact surface. This process of opening overrides the O-ring that initially held the blades tucked. The hinge pin screws, although extremely tiny in diameter (0.175mm), are critical in this application, which is why we choose to make them from HRC60 CRMO steel. These pins also allow one to replace or switch out blades easily.

Super excited to try this out hunting deer. Everything I have read shows this with aerobolt and aerovane 3 will be a devastating combination. Hope to post more after using in the field. Great design and quality of products.
