Replacement Nocks
Interchangeability
Arguably the most significant feature of the lighted nock system, Firenock’s complete interchangeability is truly what sets it apart from others. Our system boasts four interdependent components—the nock, the circuit, the battery, and the Extreme Shock End Cap. The polycarbonate nocks are not only highly precise and highly light transmissible, but also claim a patented shear lock/release system. This feature allows for the field replacement process to be very simple. When a nock has been shot through an animal or into the earth, it can easily be switched out for a new one after circuit removal. Further, note that all Firenock nock styles—C, D, D2, D3, F, J, M, Q, S, U, V, and Y; A & E; G—are compatible with all Firenock circuits—H, T and I; N & K; Z & 0—respectively.
And, of course, for those who don’t want to shoot a lighted nock but want to take advantage of the advanced design of the Firenock polycarbonate nocks, “plain” nocks in up to nine colors (red, green, clear, blue, orange, yellow, pink, smoke, and wood) are also available.
Molding Protocols
Firenock believes good nocks start with good molding protocols. Often, when plastic products are manufactured, they're made from multiple pieces (multi-cavity) and/or from several molds (multi-mold). This is a fine procedure for normal goods, like children's toys, where the quality of the plastic doesn't necessarily effect its use. In the case of a nock, however, the quality is crucial; it is the primary connection between your bow and arrow. The polycarbonate, therefore, should be distributed in a uniform manner to ensure consistent weight and performance. The best method to achieve that uniformity is via a single cavity and a single mold. Also, to take it one step further, our polycarbonate is virgin flow, meaning it's not recycled (not scaped off, re-grinded, and re-utilized) for additional consistency.
Compression System
Most nocks have six or eight notches equidistant from one another, at 60 (360/60 = 6) or 45 (360/45 = 8) degrees. Firenock nocks, on the other hand, have four notches that are respectively 60 and/or 100 degrees from one another (US Patent # 7837580). With such a notch configuration, compression can be used to successfully allow for each nock to properly fit a range of sizes. Additionally, if it compresses well, it’s much more flexible, therefore less viable to cracking. This is especially important since translucent versus opaque nocks, due to their molecular structure, are more susceptible to scoring and breaking. We advise replacing your nock after it has traveled through an animal, a target, or into the ground.
